About Valencia Cakes

People are often curious about my brand name. It’s not my name but it is nonetheless very personal to me; Valencia comes from the Latin ‘to be brave’ – a term that I never really believed about myself until a few years ago.

Something changed in 2017 and that’s when I began my journey with a renewed mindset and absolute belief in myself that has finally made it possible to reach this beautiful chapter in my life. Following a career that I love and the reward it gives me when I see the joy people experience when they see my beautiful cakes, brings me true and pure contentment. The blessing of having the most loving and supportive friends and family around me has also given me the determination I needed to succeed in realising my dreams - for this, I am and continue to be so grateful.

I stepped out of my comfort zone in the corporate world to follow a passion that humbly began as a hobby in my late teens,  watching and learning recipes and cake decorating techniques from my lovely mum. Friends and family told me I had inherited the raw talent for cake design and decorating and had faith that I would succeed if I followed it as a career, but I never really took it seriously.

My skills and ideas evolved over time and in 2017 I remember making a wonderful 40th birthday cake for a friend – it turned out amazing and I just knew, right then, this is what I wanted to do – it simply made me so happy! I would bake cakes for fun for family and friends but never dreamed that I would one day pursue it as my chosen career, but here I am!

I love baking, however my true passion is creating original and inspiring designs for cakes – that’s my art and the creativity is endless. I love rising to challenges when I am presented with ideas from my clients.

I deeply believe in authenticity, originality and great attention to detail – there is a saying, “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery but the lowest form of creativity” – SO true. I am proud to say that in my 25+ years of cake decorating, I have never made the same cake twice!

​

Valencia is a true reflection of who I am and the passion that drives me every day to be the best version of myself and to bring joy to people through the work I do. I take inspiration daily from places I visit, people I encounter, architecture, interior design and even cars, to name a few. I want to wow people, to make people smile and experience the simple, humble joy that a cake can bring to any celebration, made even more special by knowing that my clients are part of the process to make their cake ideas, reality.

Reward comes to me not only in creating exceptional cakes that look and taste phenomenal, but I love the looks of delight and surprise and feeling the positive vibes of my clients when they see a final product and then hearing the lovely comments that I have often exceeded their expectations.

​

It’s more important than ever to celebrate special people and occasions, creating beautiful memories. Every person and every occasion is unique, why shouldn’t their cake be? My creativity is driven by your thoughts and ideas. Valencia Cakes aims to create high quality products that are always authentic in design and taste, coupled with exceptional customer care. This is incredibly important to me for all the special occasions I cater for.
